ISBN: 978-3-631-61803-5. The slightly revised version of a doctoral dissertation directed by A. Lindemann and presented in 2009 to the Kirchliche Hochschule Wuppertal/Bethel, this examination of the accounts of the appearances of the Risen Jesus in the Synoptic Gospels combines the traditional methods of exegesis with the new approaches of reception history, reception aesthetics, and narrative communication. After a thirteen-page introduction, it considers the appearance account in the longer ending of Mark (16:9-20) as the reception process of the open conclusion of Mark’s Gospel. Next it discusses the appearance of Jesus in the dihvghsi' of Luke 24. Then it focuses on the account of Jesus’ appearances in the Matthean “inclusive story.” Kim concludes that Luke, Matthew, and the author of Mk 16:9-20 preferred to focus on Jesus’ appearances rather than on the resurrection itself. |
